Advanced SURG is available to students that have already received a Summer Undergraduate Research Grant (SURG) and require additional funding for the continuation of projects or the completion of new ones. Similar to SURG, Advanced-SURG provides students with a stipend to cover the living expenses for eight weeks of full-time research on their project of interest.

SURGs provide students with a stipend to cover living expenses for eight weeks of full-time research on an independent academic or creative project, in all fields of study. Using proposed methodology to provide insight around pressing questions, students will be involved in multiple aspects of the research process.

The Summer Research Assistant Grant allows students to participate in a paid research assistant position relevant to their field of study, providing first-hand experience in the conceptualization and conduct of research. While the program provides students with the hard skills needed to succeed in a research lab, it also allows them to be a part of the research process and contribute to important projects in meaningful ways.

Funded by the generosity of donors, the SoC Internship Award program enables School of Communication undergraduate majors to pursue unpaid or low paid internships during the summer. These awards provide a $3500 grant that can help offset living expenses over the summer.

The Summer Internship Grant Program was established to support current Northwestern undergraduate students with a demonstrated financial need who are participating in unpaid internships. This is a funding source for undergraduates who have accepted (or who are planning on securing) an unpaid internship or summer experience in an industry that traditionally does not pay their interns.
