The School of Communication offers a certificate in Music Theatre and partners with the Kellogg School of Management to deliver the Management of Creative Industries Certificate. The School also plays a key collaborative role in offering the Human Computer Interaction Certificate.
The Music Theatre (MT) Certificate prepares students for careers as music theatre performing artists, choreographers, composers, lyricists, and directors. The MT certificate has an audition process for students who have already matriculated to Northwestern University
The Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Certificate represents an interdisciplinary partnership across multiple Schools. It is housed in the Center for Human-Computer Interaction + Design, a collaboration between the McCormick School of Engineering and the School of Communication. Details on this new certificate are forthcoming.
The Management of Creative Industries (MCI) Certificate connects a world class education in business administration with robust skills development applicable to a wide variety of creative enterprises and industries. Students who complete this course of study will be well-equipped for leadership roles in entertainment, media, and the arts.
In addition to the MT, HCI, and MCI certificates, there are a number of certificate programs outside of SoC that available to SoC students. Students can visit the policies on non-SoC minors and certificates page for more information. To declare or drop a certificate outside of SoC, check the relevant department or program website for instructions.
