Opportunities sometimes arise for a student to assist with research, teaching, and/or a production in collaboration with a faculty member. Sometimes faculty will invite students to participate in a practicum, but students may also approach a professor whose activities or area of expertise particularly interests them. The number of practicum credits that may count toward major and degree requirements depends on the major and on a student’s other coursework, so students should consult with their advisor on how practicum credits may be applied.

Professor approval is required to register. Some departments require a form to be submitted (CSD 398-0; THEATRE 395-0), while others require students to obtain a permission number directly from the professor (COMM ST 389-0; RTVF 389-0).
