Northwestern Qatar Communication Exchange Program

The Northwestern Qatar Communication Exchange Program allows students obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication in Qatar to attend classes on Northwestern’s Evanston Campus. During the spring semester of their junior year, selected participants will embark on an enriching journey in the vibrant academic and cultural environment of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. This exchange program extends over two quarters, spanning from January to June, during which time selected students must be enrolled full-time.

iHeartMedia Internship Program – Chicago

iHeartMedia Internship Program connects SoC undergraduate and graduate students to the radio industry. NU students will join the staff of iHeartMedia Chicago as paid interns during the fall quarter of 2024 through the winter quarter of 2025 from October through March.

The Sundance Ignite program offers students a discounted attendance to the Sundance Film Festival, the Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellowship Program, a competitive and year-round artist-development program supporting emerging student filmmakers with a year of mentorship and program opportunities, and Sundance Ignite traveling programs.

Quadrennial Seminar – Prague

The Quadrennial Seminar program gives students the opportunity to attend one of the greatest theatre design conferences in the world as well as engage with the unique theatrical history and culture of the Czech Republic. The PQ Seminar consists of two separate but connected parts: the seminar class taught in Evanston and the trip to the Prague Quadrennial in the Czech Republic.

The next PQ will be in 2027.

Global Media and Communications Seminar – London

The Global Media & Communications Seminar (GMCS) features a combination of lectures both in Evanston and London as well as site visits that allow students to develop an understanding of and gain exposure to the global media and communications industries. This program allows students to engage with prominent industry professionals in the field and NU/LSE faculty in the classroom, all while exploring and touring the city of London.

Summer Academic Workshop (SAW)

Northwestern University’s Summer Academic Workshop (SAW) is a 3-week program taking place right before Wildcat Welcome. The  workshop is designed to help students identify and hone the skills they will need to navigate the transition to college-level work with confidence. During SAW, participants take part in co-curricular workshops and events curated for first-generation and/or lower-income (FGLI) students.  Participants in this workshop also earn course credit through the Cook Family Writing Center and the School of Communication.
