SoC students have the option of pursuing minors and certificates either within or outside of the School of Communication. The School of Communication does not limit the number of minors or certificates a student may declare.
Courses taken for a non-SoC minor or certificate may apply to the distribution or elective requirements for your SoC major. SoC does not restrict the double counting of courses for requirements in multiple programs. However, most majors, minors and certificates in other schools typically restrict the double counting of courses between those programs and another major, minor or certificate. Typically, courses required for “related course requirements” are permitted to double count, but consult the relevant school’s program requirements for details.
To declare or drop a minor outside of SoC, check the relevant department or program website for instructions. If you are interested in one of the SoC minors, visit the “SoC Minor Policies and Declaration” page on the advising website. If you are interested in the Music Theatre Certificate within SoC, visit the “Certificate in SoC – Music Theatre (MT)” page on the advising website.
